Montero earns MLS Player of the Week awardSoccer Betting Lines08/30/2010 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Seattle Sounders FC forward Fredy Montero was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week for Week 22 of the 2010 MLS season on Monday. Montero scored both of Seattle's goals in a 2-1 comeback win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday, with his first goal coming right after Seattle fell behind on a penalty kick, and the second arriving in stoppage time to win the game. "It was a very big goal," Montero said to mlssoccer.com of the game-winning tally. "We have been dreaming about this situation and a goal so late in the game, giving us three points, got us closer to the playoffs." Montero's play has continued to lead the way for Seattle, which is 5-0-2 in league play since the beginning of July. In that time, Montero has scored five goals and assisted on three others while earning the MLS Player of the Month award for July. The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media.
